www.mikromediateknologi.com - This manual is the best assistant to the Student's Book to achieve the learning objectives by utilizing the entire linguistic repertoire of the learners through the use of students L1. The first page of every part starts with the cycle of activities suggested. The navigation of using L1 is presented at the following page along with the possible strategies to be applied.
This module is divided into three interrelated parts.
Part 1     Get Acquainted with Scientific Writing

This part is intended for students to predict the movement of text in scientific articles by recognizing the generic AIMRaD structure. The learning objective is intended so that students can interpretively understand scientific texts from their types to analyse text movements. The learning activities starts with a connect activity which is needed to integrate what the learners already know with what they will be studying. Then, it continues with absorb activities in the form of presentations (in video format) and reading (in written text format) to convey basic information related to Scientific Writing. After that, do-activities serve as a continuation to show the similarities in types of scientific writing and encourage broader and deeper thinking about Scientific Writing through hands-on activities.
In this part, students’ linguistic repertoires are developed through balancing their language ability profile by combining and altering English and Bahasa Indonesia in expressions to facilitate students’ analysis in differentiating scientific writing with other types of writings; in selecting the appropriate type of scientific writing to suit their future needs and distinguishing the generic structure AIMRaD; terms of address, the way of greeting, referring to, or mentioning others—whether the author, the reader, or the cited figure—in a manner that is academically and conventionally appropriate; and expressions of politeness

Part 2     Get Involved in Scientific Writing

In this part, the learning is intended for students to skilled in reporting study results, literature interpretation results; data evaluation results and empirical evidence from scientific articles. The previous learning materials will assist students in reaching the goal as the second learning objective builds upon the first. It is anticipated that the second learning goal will help students engage with and negotiate the meaning of scientific literature. In order to combine what the pupils have recently learned with what they will study, connect-activity is used. Students' critical and in-depth thinking skills are tested in this exercise. Students will be asked to find instances of an existent notion in real life as part of a cite-example exercise.
Students’ linguistic repertoire is enriched through concept checking and confirmation, explanation, vocabulary search, associative and facilitative. Combining and altering are maintained when making students familiar with expressions to show students’ evaluation of claims, issues, and arguments in a scientific writing; to synthesize information and arguments literature review/ interpretation; to develop arguments systematically with appropriate emphasis on key points and relevant supporting details and speech acts particularly performed in scientific writing e.g. claiming, criticizing, clarifying, making suggestions, acknowledging limitations, and so on.

Part 3    Get Engaged with Scientific Writing

At this part, students are expected to be able to write evaluation reports in the form of literature reviews. The objective is for students to be able to determine linguistic and sociocultural issues related to English Literature and non-English Literature through the evaluation of relevant previous research results obtained independently from credible and reliable sources. This learning objective is a continuation of the previous learning, namely the discovery of scientific articles to be analyzed, evaluated, and interpreted.

The last objective represents students’ attitude of determining the research gap that will be placed in the context of research through relevant research exploration. During the exploration, they can evaluate and justify which articles shall be taken as the supporting literature.
